Embodied Self Through Healing

Individual, Couples and Family Therapy in the North Shore Chicagoland Areas

"

“The principle aim of psychotherapy is not to transport one to an impossible state of happiness, but to help (the client) acquire steadfastness and patience in the face of suffering." ~ Carl Jung

What is your story? Being in therapy can be awkward, yet an illuminating and intimate experience. Your narrative consists of a past, present and future, but the life you are living is happening in this moment.

Sessions range from 50-55 minutes, outside of a 60-minute initial intake/assessment.

Charles Weiss, LCPC, ADHD-CCSP

My approach to therapy is guided by empathy, understanding, and empowerment. I view therapy as encouraging people to view their life as changeable by their situation, in which they can identify realistic steps that promotes positive change and healing. Coming into therapy is a journey towards self-discovery and to achieve your full potential.

In session, I often begin with utilizing a person-centered approach to build and develop rapport with my clients while also drawing from other therapeutic models. Clients can expect to see a compassionate, empathic and authentic therapist who focuses on the 'here and now' in session while also helping to learn tools to help discover your authentic selves.

Therapy is not a one size fits all.

Hello and welcome! I’m Cheryl - a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Iowa.  Therapy can be a daunting experience. I always say that finding the right therapist is based upon your connection and “goodness of fit”.   I believe that the success of therapy starts with both the client and the therapist establishing a genuine rapport, promoting empathy, and cultivating hope.

My approach to therapy is working collaboratively with the clients, helping them identify the types of roadblocks and blinders that prevent them from making meaningful changes in their lives.  My work with clients is conversational, compassionate, and direct with warm regard.  I offer a non-judgmental space where clients can expect they feel heard and understood.
